Intro

Welcome to SABTS Docs. Here you can find information about the network and A/V systems, basic troubleshooting, and more!

Terms

Network

Dream Machine Pro - The name of the router powering the network at the church. It's also the controller for all of the Access Points and Unifi Talk phones. It's also referred to as just Dream Machine throughout.

danger

May be borked by sudden power loss/surge.
We found this out the hard way with UDM-Pro #1. The screen got bricked after a weird power flicker and never recovered.

caution

When looking up the Dream Machine Pro, make sure you use the full name, not just Dream Machine. Ubiquiti also makes the Dream Machine alongside the Pro, and it's a different device.

note

The word network and term local network mean the same thing in these docs

Access Point - Access points broadcast the WiFi signals. We currently have a total of 9 (As of 5/2023) in use, spread about ensuring solid WiFi coverage throughout the campus (except in the East stairwell of the sanctuary). There is one spare, a U6 Lite AP, in the sound booth, ready for any failures.

note

A traditional home router rolls the router and access point into one device. In this case, the router, also known as a firewall, and the access points are seperate and far more powerful than a normal home router. This allows for much better wifi coverage and a more powerful flexible router, albeit at an increased cost.

ProPresenter

Document - Documents are groups of slides, for example, an hymn will be a document. This is very similar to an entire PowerPoint presentation.

Playlist - A playlist is a group of documents, for example, the whole service.

Slide - (While probably redundant, it might as well be documented) A slide is a single image or text or both. It's like a PowerPoint slide, but backgrounds can be run behind slides.

Background - The backgrounds are independent of the slides, but can be linked to slides by dragging and dropping the backgrounds onto the slides. They are located in the bottom window in ProPresenter. Clicking on them will switch to them.
